Imaryuk Monitors promote and monitor compliance to the restrictions on fishing activity established by the Community Fishing Plan. They also assist with programs to assess and monitor fish stocks and fish habitat in the area. Imaryuk Monitors are easily identifiable by their badge and uniform. Please ask them for information and assistance!
The Community Fishing Plan was developed to ensure that access to remote lakes created by the new all-weather highway between Inuvik and Tuktoyaktuk (ITH) does not negatively impact fish stocks and fish habitat along the highway corridor and Imaryuk (Husky Lakes). Restrictions on fishing activity have been developed, along with plans to monitor and manage fish stocks and fish habitat to ensure fishing is sustainable now and for future generations.
